Breast self-examination

That's how it works!

1. when is the right time?

Between the 7th and 10th day after the start of your period - this is when the breast tissue is at its calmest.

2. examine regularly

Once a month - so you get to know your breasts better and recognize changes early on.

3. what should you pay attention to?

Lumps or hardening, swelling or redness, changes in the nipple (e.g. retractions, discharge), pain outside the cycle

4. important:

Not every change is a cause for concern - but it should be clarified by a doctor.

This is how it works:

In front of the mirror:

Look out for skin changes, retractions or asymmetrical movements when lifting the arms.

When showering or lying down:

Use your fingertips to palpate the entire breast and armpit in small, circular movements - from outside to inside, radially or from top to bottom.

Compare both sides:

Always examine both breasts - even if you only feel something on one side.
