In our endometriosis consultation hours, we provide dedicated and professional support to women with endometriosis.
Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease in which tissue that resembles the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterine cavity - often in the abdomen, on the ovaries, fallopian tubes or intestines. These tissue foci react to hormonal changes and can lead to recurring inflammation, adhesions and severe pain.
Typical symptoms are
- Severe abdominal pain, especially during menstruation
- Pain during sexual intercourse
- Cycle disorders and intermenstrual bleeding
- Pain during bowel movements or urination
- Unfulfilled desire to have children
The diagnosis of endometriosis is often complex and requires a great deal of experience. In addition to a detailed consultation and a gynecological examination, imaging procedures such as ultrasound are also used. In special cases, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can also be used.
Individual therapy for a better quality of life
The treatment depends on the patient's symptoms, age and desire to have children. The aim is to relieve pain, reduce inflammation and improve quality of life.
Possible forms of therapy are
- Hormone therapy
- Drug treatment with painkillers
- Surgical removal of endometriosis lesions - if necessary and after conservative measures have been exhausted
- Complementary therapies such as physiotherapy, TENS, osteopathy, acupuncture, TCM or nutritional advice
A holistic approach is crucial, as endometriosis is not only physically stressful but can also be emotionally challenging. Support from relatives and self-help groups can be a valuable aid.
