FAQ
Frequently asked questions - We have the answers
Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our services, processes and your health - clear, understandable and to the point.
Why is a mammogram recommended for screening?
Mammography is a proven method for the early detection of breast cancer and is recommended every two years for women aged 50 and over with an inconspicuous family history of breast cancer.
It makes it possible to detect the smallest changes in the breast tissue - often long before a lump is palpable and therefore before symptoms appear.
It can also be used to detect microcalcifications. Microcalcifications are tiny calcium deposits in the breast tissue that become visible in a mammogram. They are not visible to the naked eye and cannot be felt. Microcalcifications can be both benign and an indication of a precancerous stage or breast cancer.
Early diagnosis of breast cancer significantly increases the chances of successful treatment and recovery.
As there is currently no breast cancer screening program in the canton of Zurich, we register you for a mammogram as part of the preventive or "annual check-up".
If you have any questions about mammography or would like to know whether it is recommended for you, we will be happy to advise you personally!
What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
Please bring your insurance card, a list of your current medication and relevant medical documents.
Can my partner accompany me to the examinations?
Of course! The support of a caregiver - be it your partner or another trusted person - can be a valuable emotional boost, especially during important examinations or during pregnancy.
Your company is very welcome during examinations in our practice!
Many appointments, especially ultrasound examinations during pregnancy, are meaningful and emotional moments. It can be very nice to experience these special moments together.
It can also be helpful to have a trusted person at your side during other discussions, such as family planning or certain medical treatments.
Together, information can be better understood and well-founded decisions can be made.
Our aim is to make you feel at home with us. That's why we attach great importance to a supportive and open atmosphere.
How can I make an appointment with you?

Does your practice also accept patients with general health insurance?

I have discovered a breast lump. Should I wait until my annual check-up?
If you have discovered a breast lump, we strongly recommend that you have yourself examined by our medical team immediately. Even though regular check-ups are important, you should not waste any time if you discover a breast lump.
It is always advisable to have any changes to your breasts checked as soon as possible so that a prompt diagnosis and, if necessary, appropriate treatment can be initiated. Do not hesitate to contact us to make an appointment for a further examination. Your health is our top priority.
My doctor has recommended an operation. Can I get a second opinion from you?
Yes, of course! You have the right to obtain a second medical opinion at any time.
A second assessment can help you to better understand the proposed treatment, consider possible alternatives and make an informed decision.
The health insurance companies cover the costs of a second opinion.
It may be useful to consult an independent specialist who is not directly involved in the planned operation.
If you are unsure, talk to your doctor about it-open communication is important so that you feel comfortable with your decision.
We are happy to support you in finding the best possible solution for your health!
Which examinations are necessary during pregnancy?
The type and number of examinations during pregnancy depend heavily on the individual risk profile. While two ultrasound examinations are covered by health insurance for an uncomplicated pregnancy in Switzerland, additional examinations may be necessary for high-risk pregnancies.
In addition to the medical examinations, we work closely with experienced midwives who accompany the pregnancy and provide valuable support. They not only help with antenatal care, but are also available to answer questions about the birth and the time afterwards.
Our aim is to provide expectant mothers with the best possible care and to ensure a safe and comfortable pregnancy. If you have any further questions or would like individual advice, we will be happy to help you!
Do you offer alternative medical treatment options?
Yes, especially for chronic illnesses or during and after cancer therapy, alternative therapy options can be a valuable addition.
They help to reduce the level of suffering and improve general well-being.
Alternative and complementary methods can include naturopathic approaches, acupuncture, osteopathy, physiotherapy, relaxation techniques or special nutritional strategies.
While some of these methods can help to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life, it is important to coordinate them with conventional medicine to avoid interactions.
We are happy to advise you individually on possible complementary therapy approaches and work closely with specialists to ensure holistic care. If you have any questions or would like a personal consultation, we are always at your disposal!
