Complementary medicine supplements conventional medical therapies and supports you in improving your quality of life during and after treatment.
Our integrative offer is based on national and international guidelines and is implemented for you together with experienced cooperation partners.
Complementary medical measures such as mistletoe therapy, acupuncture, physiotherapy and nutritional advice are used in addition to oncological therapy - for your well-being and to strengthen the body's own defenses
Mistletoe therapy
In addition to conventional medicine, we also offer complementary medical treatment with mistletoe therapy. This can take place during cancer therapy or afterwards. Treatment with mistletoe can be easily combined with conventional medical therapies, is safe to use, improves quality of life and reduces the side effects of other therapies as part of the integrative therapy concept.
Preparations
Standardized extracts from European white mistletoe (Viscum album) are used, which have been tested in integrative oncology for decades.
Mechanism of action
Mistletoe extracts mainly contain mistletoe lectins and viscotoxins.
- Mistletoe lectins stimulate the immune system and promote the activity of natural killer cells.
- Viscotoxins have a cytotoxic effect on tumor cells in cell cultures.
Clinical studies have not yet been able to demonstrate a direct effect on tumor growth; however, there is evidence of a noticeable immune stimulation and better tolerability of standard therapies.
Application
- Injections into or under the skin (abdomen, thighs)
- Implementation in the practice, then self-application 2-3 times per week
- Therapy usually lasts several months to two years
- Initial administration under medical supervision, then independently according to instructions
Benefits and safety
Patients report about:
- Less fatigue and nausea during chemotherapy
- Better mood and appetite
- Generally increased well-being
Mistletoe therapy is considered to be well tolerated and safe.
Interactions with modern oncological drugs have not yet been proven, but each application is coordinated with the treating team.
What else you should know:
Mistletoe therapy does not replace standard conventional medical procedures.
It is an accompanying measure to improve your quality of life and should always be carried out in consultation with your oncologist.
